And the Most Viewed Commercial during Super Bowl XLVI was….

To the dismay of Patriot fans, the New York Giants won the Super Bowl XLVI. But aside from the real game on the field, there was also another game taking place on television sets. We're talking of course about the advertising war.

According to Kantar Media Audiences’ commercial ratings analysis, Cadillac scored the highest audience, averaging a 43.5 average household rating with its “Green Hell” ad on the new ATS that aired at 9:37 EST.

The study also found that the ATS commercial was the most-viewed single advertising spot in U.S. television history surpassing the previous record holder, which was “Miss Evelyn,” a spot for the Chevrolet Camaro in Super Bowl XLV last year.

Cadillac Tells us how it Makes New ATS Sound Like it Does

Nürburgring lap times are all good and well and a great marketing tool. However, for the vast majority of your average consumer, how fast a professional racing driver can lap the Nordschleife makes little to no difference at all when it comes to choosing a car.

Sure, it can be a measure of a car's handling abilities in extremes. In everyday driving, however, other things are much more important – unless your name is Walther Rorhl or you are a test driver.

Looks are important, and handling and ride even more so. Safety is, of course, paramount. Have you ever considered another aspect that is omnipresent whenever you turn on the ignition key?

Cadillac ATS' Super Bowl Ad Tells Everyone who Doesn’t Believe it Can Beat the 3-Series to go to "Green Hell"

Unlike Cadillac's previous failed attempts, the all-new ATS sedan was designed from a clean sheet to compete squarely against the best Germany has to offer in the executive compact sedan segment, namely the BMW 3-Series sedan – and possibly, the rest of the Bavarian model's range later on.

And if there's one thing GM's premium brand has been touting about the ATS more than anything else since it began teasing the car last summer, it's the fact that it's handling and driving dynamics were honed at the Nürburgring race track in Germany, which as most of you already know, is nicknamed "The Green Hell".

Cadillac ATS: The Journey from the Nürburgring to Detroit

Before the official unveiling of the new ATS earlier this month, Cadillac had given us an insight on the development of its new premium sedan model at the Nürburgring racetrack through The Journey web videos.

For the fourth episode of the series, the wreath and crest brand takes us on a trip behind the scenes of the car's world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show.

New Cadillac ATS Sedan: The Official Low Down Plus HD Pictures and Videos

We've been following the development of Cadillac’s all-new premium mid-size sedan for almost a year now but at long last, and after the first photos showed up online earlier today, the Detroit Motor Show-bound 2013 ATS has been officially revealed.

The design is what you'd expect from a 21st-century Cadillac, full of sharp creases and vertically stacked rear lights, with the exception of the headlights that extend back into the front fenders.

The interior offers a few surprises as well, including the instrument panel with a reconfigurable 5.7-inch display, though some of us found the center console and steering wheel bearing a passing resemblance to the Chevrolet Cruze.

Another highlight of the interior is the Cadillac's new CUE technology that pairs entertainment and information data from up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, USBs, SD cards and MP3 players with a vehicle infotainment system that includes an eight-inch LCD multi-touch sensitive screen.

Cadillac Engineers Try to Perfect the 2013 ATS on the Nordschleife [Video]

In the third chapter of Cadillac's video series on the new 2013 ATS, the Detroit firm's engineers explain to us why they chose the Nürburgring racetrack to complete the development of their soon-to-be revealed compact sports sedan.

"There's no other facility in the world like this. You can accomplish more in one lap around the 'Ring than you can running probably a dozen tracks in the U.S." says David Mikels, energy and powertrain integration engineer for the Cadillac ATS.

Official: 2013 Cadillac ATS gets New 2.0-liter Turbo with 270HP, Plus 2.5L and 3.6L V6 engines [Video]

Cadillac is not…horsing around with its soon-to-be revealed 2013 ATS as the Detroit automaker will offer the compact sports saloon with a newly developed 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four producing an estimated 270-horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque (353 Nm) straight from launch.

The 2.0T is a different engine than the one used on the current Buick Regal GS, with the ATS being the first GM model to receive the force-fed powerplant.

“This engine is the perfect match for the new ATS, which will be a refined performance luxury sedan,” said Don Butler, Cadillac vice president of Global Marketing. “The 2.0T has an exceptionally smooth and responsive power curve that will make the ATS nimble, quick and fun to drive.”

Dealer Celebrates Showroom Opening by Dropping a 1950s Cadillac 60 from a Crane… [Video]

There are a lot of different ways to go about generating some buzz for the grand opening of a new car dealership, but hanging a classic 1950s Cadillac 60 sedan from a crane and then releasing it to crash down to the ground is something you don't see happening every day.

This controversial marketing stunt came from the Texas-based, Frank Kent Motor Company, and it took place on November 11 for the opening of its new Cadillac store in Fort Worth.

We can't say for sure what condition the Caddy was in, and even though the move did realize its goal of getting the word around for the new showroom (we're here talking about it, aren't we?), somehow trashing one of your brand's classic models doesn't seem quite right. That or we’re being old fashioned about it…

NSFW: Gisele Spends Some Time in a Cadillac CTS-V Coupe [Parts 1 & 2]

The first thing most of our readers [sic…] may notice about this video is that the featured Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is equipped with an automatic transmission. Do we really need to tell you what else your eyes will rest upon after that?

And oh, it's probably a good idea to tell you that both videos are somewhat NSFW (probable less about Work, more about Wife). If staged clips about girls taking a ride in a fast car is your kind of thing, all you have to do is follow the jump to watch Gisele and her ride in the automatic Caddy.

Cadillac Puts the Video Spotlight on the 2013 ATS Sedan’s Engineering Team

The video teasing of the upcoming 2013 Cadillac ATS compact sedan continues with the fourth installment of the series that focuses on the engineers behind the development of the car with which GM hopes to compete head on with the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The rejuvenated wreath and crest brand stresses that all engineers working on the upcoming ATS were "handpicked based on their roles in developing other top Cadillacs" and "how well they can drive and evaluate cars on grueling test tracks".

2013 Cadillac XTS in the Flesh and on the Move in New Videos

The big news for Cadillac today was the presentation of the all-new XTS full-size luxury sedan, and we've got some fresh pictures as well as two new videos including one that shows the car on the road (admittedly, not in the best quality) to share with you.

There's been some confusion about which segment the XTS belongs to since it will replace two models in Cadillac's range, the rear-/all-wheel drive STS and the front-wheel drive only DTS.

While the new XTS is Cadillac's largest sedan and as such, should be the brand's flagship saloon model, it does not target the likes of the BMW 7 Series nor the Mercedes S-Class.

We Already Know What You Did Last Summer: New Video of 2013 Cadillac ATS at the ‘Ring

For some reason, General Motors is hell bent to show us what it did with the pug-faced 2013 Cadillac ATS prototypes on the famous Autobahn and the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany this past summer.

After a general teaser and the first episode, Cadillac has now released the second part of its video series, which documents the team of drivers and engineers that put Cadillac's new BMW 3-Series saloon contender through its paces.

Hop over the jump to get a look of the new video.

2013 Cadillac ATS Sedan Development at the Nürburgring Track [Video]

It’s been roughly two weeks since Cadillac dropped the first teaser video of the 2013 ATS at the Nürburgring and now GM has the released the first full installment of its web series dedicated to the development of the premium compact sedan at the so-called "Green Hell".

The Detroit-based company's goal of course is to associate the ATS with its German competition, and specifically the new BMW 3-Series.

Right on CUE: 2012 Cadillac XTS, ATS and SRX to Get New Infotainment System

There was a time when premium car buyers were content with full leather upholstery, plenty of wood trim, plush carpets and a great sound system. That time is long gone. Nowadays the latest fad is infotainment systems.

Cadillac may have lagged in this department, especially when compared to its top rivals, but from next year, the Detroit company plans to more than make up for it.

Today, Cadillac unveiled the first interior shots of its DTS- and STS-replacing saloon, the upcoming XTS. However, contrary to standard practice, it didn't focus on the quality or the abundance of space. Instead, it revealed its new CUE (Cadillac User Experience) infotainment, navigation and communication system that will launch in 2012 in the XTS, the ATS and the SRX crossover.

GM Unleashes the 2013 Cadillac ATS Sedan on the Nürburgring [with Video]

It may have taken a while, but if anything else, General Motors is showing signs that it has learned its lesson from the German competition and has even brought the game to their "backyard" challenging its rivals on the Nürburgring racetrack.

While Chevy's team was trying to record a fast lap around the "Green Hell" with the Camaro ZL1, Cadillac engineers brought the upcoming ATS sports sedan to the "Ring for a two week-long trial in September.

GM published a new video that provides us with an inside glimpse of the testing that took place and which you can watch in the clip below.

Cadillac Challenges Mercedes-Benz by Pitting the Escalade Against the C-Class [Video]

We think most of you will agree with us when we say that, for the same reasons the Cadillac Escalade is extremely profitable, it also doesn't quite fit the brand's current image being sort of a throwback to the glory days of the classic American cruiserships.

But this didn't stop General Motors from raising the ante in yet another provocative commercial for Cadillac that follows the CTS-V spot featuring the Ferrari 458 Italia.

This time, the General took the Escalade and pointed its ammo towards Mercedes-Benz and its C-Class sedan. The video spot shows the big Caddy V8 beating the C300 on a straight line duel, and then…hauling back the Merc.
